Songs that start with a moment. Specific, observed, quietly remarkable.
New album Little Untold Stories out now. Twelve songs collected from Cornwall, London, and Berlin.

Little Untold Stories
Matt Hill went travelling and paid close attention. A conversation about medieval clocks at the British Museum. A walk through Richmond Park where lunch came too early and something was missed. A train moving through the dark between Berlin and Amsterdam.
Little Untold Stories is what happened when he came home. Twelve songs written, performed, recorded and produced entirely by Matt. Each one a small act of witness to a moment that deserved to last longer than it did.
Quietly beautiful. Worth your time.
About Matt
From New York to the Northern Rivers
Matt Hill cut his teeth in 1990s New York, drumming with indie grunge band Cow in Plaid while working at Tower Records. He moved to Lismore for a guitar performance degree and then on to Melbourne, where he joined ambient instrumental trio amphibian — performing at festivals and major venues across Australia, supporting artists like David Bridie, Ed Kuepper and Scanner, and touring the UK. Between amphibian shows, he spent time field recording in Europe and Japan before heading to far north Queensland to dive deep into experimental electronic music as part of his PhD.
Matt returned to the Northern Rivers in 2006 with a young family and won the 2009 NCEIA Dolphin Award for Best Album with the mostly instrumental Warm Keep Warm, featuring Natalie Carey, Dave Ades, Cleis Pearce, Jamie Pattugalan and Thierry Fossemalle. A run of song-based albums followed — Stars and the Moon and Satellites was a 2019 NCEIA Best Album finalist, while Sombre Mountain (2021) and Box & Whisper Plot (2024) feature Brett Canning on bass, Scott Hills on drums, and his daughter Gabriella Hill guesting on clarinet and saxophone. Beyond his own records, Matt has collaborated as performer, composer and sound designer across film, theatre, dance and video, including the NORPA production Engine, Grayson Cooke's Bonnywood Rising and After-Image, and Paul Yacono's film Mu.

Five Elements
In a room full of ancient mechanisms at the British Museum, someone explained how medieval monks invented the first mechanical clocks, not to tell time, but to regulate prayer. Matt caught a train sometime later, somewhere between Berlin and Amsterdam, and couldn't stop thinking about it. This is that song.
Waiting
Matt and his wife, Lisa, walked through Richmond Park on an autumn afternoon and stopped for lunch too early. By the time they moved on, whatever they'd been waiting for had already passed. This song knows that feeling.
Trouble
Some songs find their best version later. This one found it when Matt's daughter Gabriella picked up her saxophone. From the Box & Whisper Plot album, played here the way it was always meant to sound.
